Arts and Design Project 1 - Model and talent Release forms

All the people that are in my pictures signed a model release form. (Stalo, Carla and Joe)

The singer that sang on my first recording signed a talent release form as well.

Arts and Design Project 1 - Time-lapse of me building a Cajon

As I was building the Cajon I took pictures and videos. I then edited them into one video using moviemaker to make a time-lapse video.

The original footage was 45 minutes long and the final video is almost 2 minutes long. It took me around an hour and a half to finish editing the video.

I will be submitting this video as the 4th piece for my Major Project.

I am going to upload those two pictures for the second and third tracks on soundcloud with the unedited ones.

Arts and Design project 1 - Editing 3rd recording

I had 5 tracks for this recording so I can edit different sections in different ways. I first started with the section I liked and added more into it.

Then I took the second part and used an effect from the FX menu from the VST list to add to the sound. I played around with the controls so I can get the sound I wanted and to experiment with this edit as well to see if I get something new.

I took the first part I edited and put it right under the second part to be as a background sound. I made several copies from it and edited the volume level throughout the duplicated parts so it sounds different I also played with the panning and made it sound more from the right or more from the left.

I usually work in this studio which is in Clephan Building 00.16a which is the rehearsal studio  I work there because I am used to working there from last term, and I am comfortable with the space.




I used this studio 3 times only and it is the surround studio also located at the Clephan building (basement) 00.22a:

Arts and Design Project 1 - 3rd (new) recording

My music teacher gave me a box that had around 5 items in it and told me to choose one of these items to record and then edit to use for my major project.

I chose those magnetic balls:



I used the project studio in Clephan building (basement). I help them and moved them so they made sounds then I rolled them on the ground so they made a different sound, I then dropped them from 5inch above the ground and then dropped them  so that they again made a different sound the recording was around 3 min long.

Arts and Design Project 1 - Further research

I searched a lot of tracks and listened to over 20 tracks on youtube and soundcloud and came across those three tracks that I really liked:

The first track (Show Me) is very unique I really enjoyed listening to it and I would love to do something like to one of my recordings in the future.

















The second track is by a guy called Stwo and the first song I heard for him was ( and I really liked it because I would like to edit my 1st recording for my major project in something similar.




The second song I heard was and I also liked this one for the same reasons. I like that his editing is very unique and different.





I searched about the artist as well:
He is a Parsian producer/DJ and he is 20 years old.

Arts and Design Project 1 - Editing 2nd recording

I did not do much to this recording because I love the way it sounds so I focused on removing the glitches and cuts from the recording. There was a lot of glitches because it was recorded in the street and there was a lot of people passing by.

I removed all the glitches and one of them was a bit challenging to remove because it was a very loud glitch and in a big space. I cut the part where the glitch is clear and faded both of the parts that would connect the track back together. I then copied that part of the recording and added a second track and put it on it and raised the volume so that the fading part won't be obvious
and heard clearly.
There was another part that had a big glitch so I replaced part of the recording in that part and made it sound natural and that it was already that way.

I added the altiverb effect from the FX menu from the VST section so that it will sound different and make the recording sound as far or as close as I want it to and I also chose a setting for the recording so that it doesn't sound so much like the original.

I overall really like the edit I have done because the sirens in the back are still clear and the editing made it sound better.
I am very proud of this recording and enjoyed editing it.

Here I was at the library editing my project; I was updating my blog and my sketchbook.

Arts and Design Project 1 - Cajon

I thought maybe if I recorded the Cajon that would make an interesting instrument to the project and I can edit it to sound unique.

I also thought that buying one and making it would be another interesting idea to add to my project.
I used Meinl MYO-CAJ Cajon Construction Kit to build it.
